Abseiling at Scout Rock

Expressions of interest are sought for Scouts and Venturers for an introductory opportunity to learn to abseil. For those with more experience, this is also an opportunity to assist with belaying and start to learn how to establish anchors.

When: Saturday 19th October


There is a morning session for Scouts 9.30 – 12.30


And an afternoon session for Venturers at 1.30- 4.30


Where: Camp Cottermouth


Cost: $25 (Invoice will be emailed)


All necessary rock activity safety equipment will be provided by the Rock Activities Team. This includes helmets and abseiling equipment.


There are no prerequisites, however the maximum number of youth per session is 15 and a minimum of two section leaders additional to the vertical guides are required. The form below will ask for your Scout Group name and it is recommended that you discuss with your leader to check availability prior to completing the form.


Once the available places are allocated, Operoo forms will be sent out and information provided to relevant Groups and sections.


Note!


Participants will need to walk and scramble up a moderate incline to return to the cliff top after abseiling. Participants will need to be comfortable (with assistance) in undertaking such activity.

Abseiling is exposed to the elements and suitable clothing should be worn to suit weather conditions, it can be windy, cold or sunny.  Abseiling will not occur if heavy rain is forecast or occurring.
